Happy autumn, folks! Unless you live in the bottom half of the world, it’s getting cooler and the leaves are falling off the trees. You know how it goes.
It was highly requested on my Instagram to do a fall favorites! I’ve done one of these before, so I’m pretty excited. I don’t think there’s any one way to do this, so I’ll be sharing some (arbitrary) things that have made my fall great and events to anticipate for the rest of the season.
Let’s get started!
Favorite books I’ve read
Surprisingly, I’ve been reading pretty often. Much more than last year, when I read 2 books a month. In September and October, I read a total of 12 books! Pretty good, honestly, since junior year is supposed to be the toughtest year (so far it’s been my easiest, that might be a stretch but hey, sophomore year was a bitch.)
I’ve been much more critical of my ratings lately, but these books were my absolute faves in late September and all of October:
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
One of Us is Lying by M. McManus
And I Darken by Kiersten White
Now I Rise by Kiersten White
However, some books that I definitely recommend reading during the fall season is
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
Funny enough, I’ve only read one of these. I’ll leave you to guess which. (It won’t be the one you think.) But these books give me serious autumn vibes, so I hope I pick them up sometime this season.
TV Shows
In the past month, I watched part 1 of season 3 of Fuller House, rewatched 14 seasons of Family Guy, rewatched Stranger Things season 1, and *panting* watched season 2 of Stranger Things. Crazy month, I know. And I still need to watch Game of Thrones, I’m only 2 seasons in! Don’t worry, I have until 2019 to catch up. . .Too soon?
These are the shows I recommend watching during the fall season:
Stranger Things (it’s set during the fall, obviously!)
Game of Thrones (the dark vibes fit the longer nights)
Gilmore Girls (I haven’t watched, but it looks super cozy for autumn)
Parks and Recreation (best during any season, honestly)
Favorite events
Since late September, my room was renovated so my walls are now beige (a really awesome fall aesthetic for bookstagram hehe) I visited a pumpkin patch (somewhat) and I saw two Youtubers in person (will not be going into detail about those mwahaha.)
As for the rest of autumn, I’m excited and dreading NaNoWriMo next month! It’s my first NaNo since 2015, as I took a break in 2016 for my studies (also why I read less then.) But I have hope! And I’ll definitely be uploading weekly NaNo vlogs at the end of each week so you lovelies can hear about my progress (if you’re interested in that, of course.)
I hope you enjoyed my random post ?? I’m not sure what happened, I talked about books, about TV, and NaNoWriMo, I think. Usually I don’t like fall. It reminds me of winter and the impending chill of numb fingers and sliding on ice but fall isn’t too bad right now.
Thanks for reading! Do you experience fall where you live? What’s your favorite thing about it?
xoxo,
Jill
Fall is my favorite season!! I love the chillier weather and the beautiful foliage and the excitement of starting a new semester. Also, best of luck with NaNoWriMo!! 🙂
