Hello readers! Happy Thanksgiving! Instead of chowing down your pumpkin pie and walking out on your family when they mention politics, I’m here for you.
Last year, when I was drowning in APUSH reading and homework, I didn’t blog much. At all. So around Thanksgiving was the only time I was able to blog, and I created my seasonal reading updates. It’s one of my favorite things to write on here, too. There was a little solace in writing something that I could just talk to you all about, nothing planned or anything.
Unlike my fall favorites, the reading update is a staple to this blog and I’ll talk a little bit about what I’m reading, listening to, watching, or my regular life. I can be as personal as I want to be. Now onto my 5th installment of reading updates, I hope you enjoy!
To be honest, I haven’t read much since my fall favorites. School took the reins and I’ve been riding its coattails all month. (Was that too descriptive?) But since November began, I’ve read Wild Beauty, The Hazel Wood (review here) and I’m currently reading. . .wait for it. . .
My followers and friends on social media have been agitating me for months to read CK again. I ditched it last December, and have avoided it since then. However, I picked it up again a few days ago and I’m in love! I have no clue what bored me about it back in 2016. Whatever it was, it made me lose about 600 pages worth of good stuff. I’m about halfway through, and I’m hoping to read again soon.
Altogether, that’s all I have read since my fall favorites. But after CK, I’m hoping to pick up some more books such as: The Belles, Everless, Unearthed, Meet Cute, Turtles All the Way Down, 27 Hours, and more. Point is, I have my reading planned for at least the next month and a half 🙂
So. It’s NaNoWriMo season. Actually, I should be writing right now. Instead, I’m here, blogging, telling you I should be writing. Funny how that works, doesn’t it?
I finished my last WIP in August, and took a break. Now, November, I picked up a novel and I’m almost done with it! It’s a rewrite of a novel I wrote in July 2015. For some reason I’ve been kicking it this year, though I need to edit these books. . .
This novel for NaNo 2017 is my first book featuring an aromantic asexual MC and it’s gone great integrating that into the story. It’s such a marginalized orientation and I hope to add more in the future ❤
Truthfully, I’m way behind for NaNo. I’m at 26k and it’s November 23. I have to write at least 3,000 words a day, every day, to finish on time. Well, the good news is that I have the next 5 days off school, so I better set to work. *Retreats into writing hole*
All I’ve been listening to is Marina and the Diamonds. Nothing has changed. I might consider listening to Dear Evan Hansen, otherwise, I love with Marina at the moment and probably until I find a new obsession.
Since my fall favorites, I haven’t watched a new show. I finished Stranger Things, and I’ve been reeling from there. However, I have been watching the weekly premieres for Jane the Virgin season 4. This season is kind of lost on me, personally, but this isn’t the place to talk spoilers and frustration. For the season ahead, I might pick up Game of Thrones again or try The West Wing. Or Gilmore Girls. I feel my tastes changing all the time.
Due to school, I haven’t been journaling as much. That’s a given. More importantly, I only have a few pages left of my Leuchtturm. I’m panicking because those journals are a good $20 and I have to desperately save up for Christmas gifts. The clock, as well as my wallet, is winding down so I have to choose! I could never not bullet journal, though, I’ve done it practically every day for nearly a year and a half!
I’m thinking of getting this one: Leuchtturm1917 Sand
Otherwise, that’s all I have for my journaling updates. I put Tombow brush pens on my Amazon wishlist. I might add more pens, actually, since they’re hella expensive.
I was going to try a different brand of journal, but I discovered Leuchtturm is the only company (that I can name) which has page numbers printed on the pages. I’m at a point in my life when that’s important to me, so I’m sticking with Leuchtturm.
P.S. I’LL GET MY BUJO POST UP SOON GOSH! Nah, just kidding, I’m not trying to be mean about it, but it’s taking a lot of work. I hope to have it up in time for the holidays in case you need some ideas for gifts or wishlists.
My life is pretty much to same. I’m avoiding driving even though I have a permit. I’m handling classes okay. I’m low on cash (spent too much on books) so I’m going to get a debit card soon and open up a DePop for my books!
Me: this is going to be about my life Me: *already talking about books*
I got my room renovated. My walls are beige, and my bed is against the wall. I love the cozy nook I have by my bed. I’m hoping, when I have some money, to add shelves with succulents to my walls and maybe some posters and decoration. It’ll be a good time.
Anyway. I still compete in speech and debate. It’s hell getting up at 5-6 am on a Saturday, but I manage alright.
As for my mental health, October was an awful month. November has been better. I’m feeling happier this month. I hope December goes well. It’s driving, looking at colleges, and speech and debate which has me reeling in stress. But that’s for another time. Just think positively.
Well, that’s it! Tune in next season for the winter reading update!
Thanks for reading! What’s your favorite season?
