Hello readers! I hope you’re doing well 🙂 You know what time of year it is! You say, Jill, is it time to start your summer homework so you’re not falling behind or rushing to finish in August?
No, of course not!
It’s BookTube-a-Thon! What else?
If you aren’t aware, BookTube-a-Thon is an annual reading event that involves book bloggers all over the world who *bravely* attempt to read 7 books in 7 days, including reading sprints and challenge prompts to help a participant pick their books. Some succeed, others will die.
Just kidding, it’s fun! *Insert cricket noises*
I participated for the first time last year, but I had a great time and read 5 books, which was 2 books short but the most books I’d read in a single week at the time. If you have the time (or just don’t care how much you read) I totally recommend participating in BookTube-a-Thon!
If you’d like to see the challenges for yourself, you can find them here. 2018 BookTube-a-Thon lasts from July 30 to August 5.
As the time is near, I wanted to share my official tbr list for BookTube-a-Thon in case anyone was interested. The prompts are up, the time is nigh, let’s dive right in!
Coin toss
I did a coin toss between Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson vs Smoke in the Sun by Renee Ahdieh—and WOEAS won. *cue confetti* Truthfully, I don’t know much about this novel, but it had a cool, fantasy historical premise. I’m excited.
Something you want to do
I racked my brain to think of a book for this prompt, since it’s kind of vague but I decided to read Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch because it’s set in Ireland! I would travel to Ireland. In fact, my best friend is there now. I plan on buddy reading this with a friend, so that should be fun. I really enjoyed Love and Gelato so I have high hopes for this one.
A book to film adaptation
I couldn’t decided between rereading To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Darkest Minds, or Crazy Rich Asians for this one! I can’t believe all of these movies are coming out in August!!! However, I picked CRA because 1) it’s the shortest of the three 2) it’s the only book mentioned that I haven’t already read. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE CRAZY RICH ASIANS IN THEATERS. I am so hyped.
A book with green on the cover
This was a pretty simple one (which I appreciated) I chose Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake. It’s been on my list for a while, so I’m eager to finally read it. I know it’ll have a lot to say.
A book with a beautiful spine
For this one, I had to pick a book from my shelf (and not an ebook) so I could physically grasp the actual beauty of a spine with my eyes. I chose Circe. I have been QUAKING with anticipation for this book. I’ve always heard about Song of Achilles but I think Circe will be a better fit for me.
And lastly. . .
Read 5-6 books
Technically the challenge is 7 books in 7 days, but your girl doesn’t have t i m e for that especially cause I leave for Washington D.C. on the 3rd so if I can make it to 5 books, I’ll be satisfied. If I beat my previous record of 5 books with 6, I’ll be elated.
Alright, that’s my list! I hope this was somewhat interesting. Maybe you see a couple of books you want to read, or have read and loved/hated; let me know in the comments if you think I’ll enjoy these books (or that I won’t like.) Either way, I am READY to conquer BookTube-a-Thon, and if you’re participating this year, we can conquer our tbrs together. *fist bump*
Thanks for reading! Do you participate in BookTube-a-Thon, if so, what’s on your tbr this year?
xoxo,
Jill
Circe is my TBR for beautiful spine too! And yes, I know I won’t be able to finish all 7 but I’ll see how far I can go (: have fun!
