Bookish Boxes #1 — Fairyloot Unboxing

Hiiii readers! I decided today I’d share with you my FIRST bookish subscription box ever from the incredible people at Fairyloot! Featuring bookish companies you know and love such as BookwormBoutique and NerdyPost, there’s a whole myriad of epic gear stuffed inside my slightly damaged but nonetheless beautiful box!

For those of you who might not be aware, I am an honorary rep of @Fairyloot on (for the most part) Instagram, where I receive 3 months worth of boxes and rave about them on social media to get everyone hyped on their awesome new stuff  ❤

The box I received first was the November 2016 ‘Royals and Rogues’ theme for readers of Throne of Glass, The Wrath & the Dawn, + Red Queen. So being a fan of all three, I was ecstatic to hear it would be my very first box! Below are the contents of this box + I wrnt ahead and linked some of the artists featured just in case any of you are curious to learn more about their beautiful products 🙂

Items Included in the ‘Royals & Rogues’ Box:

So the truth is, I had been working on the blog, making header images when I noticed the mailman approach my doorstep. Since the computer room had a perfect view of the front porch, I quickly realized that this mailman held a black box unlike any package I’ve ever seen. I knew it was Fairyloot.

It took all my effort not to barge out the door and hug the mailman that would’ve been extra weird  for delivering this beautiful, beautiful box to me from all the way across the pond. *wink*

Even though all the products were gorgeous and amazing and all I could’ve ever asked for, I can really picture myself using the Queen of Books mug in my photos when I’m not using it for tea or coffee that is #caffeineaddict  to the stunning The Wrath & the Dawn pocket mirror (I’m always in need of one, actually.) The only downside of the mirror is that it’s one sided, so the mirror is virtually unprotected from scratches. BUT I PROMISE TO TREAT IT WITH RESPECT. “There shall be no scratches on my part!” I declare, as I glare into my cracked phone screen.

In fact, I’ve already used the Queen of Books mug in a photo!

The Queen of Terrasen notepad is a beauty (what can I say? I’m a sucker for stunning calligraphy!) but I think it’ll make a much nicer prop than being a part of my disposable note system. I have my bullet journal and/or a sticky note for that!  And while I haven’t thought of using the soap crystals yet, I’ll probably find a proper use for them soon.

As for the tea, I actually happen to not like earl gray tea, so I’m going to regift it for a friend who just so happens to love earl gray. I know she’ll appreciate it much more than myself, but I do love how the loose tea leaves are paired with disposable filters so you can steep your tea naturally. Such an innovative idea!

Onto Nemesis! So the featured book for the R&R November box was Nemesis by Anna Banks! Although I haven’t quite picked it up yet, it seems the novel is an epic fantasy of magic, mystery, romance, + action. Sounds good to me. I’ll link the Goodreads if you’re interested in reading reviews, but if you’re feeling rather lazy I’ll just paste the synopsis below:

Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king’s servitude.

Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But Mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.

Sepora’s gift may be able to save Tarik’s kingdom. But should she risk exposing herself and her growing feelings for her nemesis?

WOO. Maybe I’ll even review Nemesis for my blog! I can’t say I’ll pick it up this month, I can definitely count on January or early February. Have you read Nemesis? Added it to your tbr list? Comment below! Don’t forget to tag your pics to #LoveYourNemesis

In review, I must say I’d rate the box a 4 out of 5 stars ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ since it contained not only gorgeous but useful items + photo props, but made my day with its arrival on my doorstep ❤

December Box Announcement:

BUT GUYS. ANISSA (Fairyloot’s founder) ANNOUNCED THE DECEMBER BOX AND I AM EEEEEEEEXCITED as hell! It’s Sci-Fi, which just so happens to be my favorite genre! It’s perfect for fans of the Lunar Chronicles and Red Rising. The box will also feature a full-size funko! That sounds absolutely perfect, don’t you think? If you haven’t snagged yourself a subscription yet, there might be a chance for you to buy a single purchase of the December box, but spots are limited.

However, not all is lost because, as a rep, I am given a code! Yes, a code! Use BOOKNERD on your purchase of a 3 or 6 month subscription to Fairyloot for 5% off! I apologize for the shameless self-promotion, but I want you to enjoy the glorious savings! You’ll just have some spare cash left over, but then again it is the holiday season. DON’T FORGET TO BUY YOUR GIFTS!

I want to give a warm thank you to Anissa, she has been nothing but kind to me since I became a rep, and so far it’s been a real honor to represent Fairyloot so far. I really hope the next two months are just as fantastic! And the December box will arrive right after the holidays! It’ll be like Anissa’s gift to all the people receiving the box, and that thought just warms my heart ❤

Alright, readers, that’s all I have to say for now. I plan on doing a typical Instagram unboxing as well as an extended unboxing on my blog for November, December, + January, so I really hope you liked it! Because unfortunately you might have to get used to it. *wink*

Now, if you would excuse me I’m off to eat the night away and watch Youtube. Perhaps I’ll even bullet journal. My, what a life a book blogger lives, am I right?

Have you purchased a subscription box before? If not, which one would you love to get? Tell me below!

  1. well, i’ve never purchased a book subscripton box before because, well, it does cost too much for me (+ all the taxes that are way too high in my country), so it’s pretty much a hopeless case for my parents to buy them for me. oh well, i love to see people open their boxes on instagram stories or on their blogs. maybe if i become a rep ONE day i MIGHT have a subcription box, or if i grow up and have my own money… 😇
as always, wonderful post, Jill!! 💕

  2. Haven’t purchased any book subby boxes as I am currently unemployed and have bills piling up. Hopefully one day I’ll either be gifted one or be able to afford one. They sound so awesome, no matter what company they come from! Loved this post!
